Sid Lee wins Grand Prix Grafika 2015

Sid Lee wins Grand Prix Grafika 2015
For a second year in a row, Sid Lee Montreal took home the Grand Prix Grafika 2015. The agency was also awarded four of the 14 Grand Prix at this edition of the Grafika awards, which celebrate the best graphic design pieces in Quebec.

The big winner of the night was the ADC Travelling Exhibit for ADC and Shutterstock, winning the Grand Prix Grafika 2015 and the Grand Prix Installation. The ADC wanted to place its craft-based roots and new identity at the heart of its travelling exhibit. We seized this opportunity to create an event miles away from the customarily passive experience, designing three innovative and interactive pieces to display the winning works of the ADC awards.

Sid Lee also came out victorious in the category of Design événementiel (event design), taking home the Grand Prix for the 8 Queen. Our challenge was to transform a former warehouse, located at 8 Queen Street, into a multifunctional space for Sid Lee. We created a space with multiple personalities, inspired by the work of important directors with incomparable styles; a space where each room is marked by its own atmosphere and visual world. We also developed signage and a typographic signature that perfectly fit the space and bring together the 8 Queen’s eclectic elements to create a cohesive whole.

The Grand Prix Publication commerciale (commercial publication) went to the SAQ’s Courrier vinicole for the Spain-Portugal edition. We created a print catalogue with an entirely personalized design inspired by the regions of Spain and Portugal, focusing on refined esthetics to reach a clientele on the market for unique products.

Finally, the Grand Prix Identité visuelle (visual identity) was awarded to Notman House. Inspired by the work of William Notman as well as the era during which he thrived, we developed signage keeping in mind the spirit of collaboration and the historic/modern duality that reign in the space. You’ll find more information about the project here.

In addition to these Grand Prix, ten other Sid Lee projects ranked among the top 100 of the year. They are:

Jour de la Terre Québec – Piñata (Humanitarian cause)
Fondation OSMO – Maison Notman (Original typography)
