YPR is seeking a Specialist, Media Relations Canada & US (hybrid position) who will report to the Account Director, PR & Influencer Marketing. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing media relations strategies and programs for B2C and B2B brands in the US and Canada. It is a hybrid position, with priority provided to applicants that can be in office 2-3 times per week (location: 395 Hudson St, New York, NY).

This role will provide the opportunity to support clients across a wide range of industries including retail, fashion, CPG, tech, financial services, and more, also working in collaboration with partner agency Sid Lee on creative campaigns. We are looking for a creative thinker and go-getter who can work both independently and in collaboration with others, from brainstorming to implementing program strategies. This role requires someone adaptable, detail oriented, and who has demonstrated successful media relations skills, holding relationships with key Canadian and US media contacts.


  • Conduct end-to-end media outreach and communications, including building media lists and coordinating samples and assets for media placements
  • Draft pitches and copy including contributed articles, social media content, blog posts and other written content
  • Write and prepare press releases
  • Provide client media training, including developing briefing materials and key messaging documents
  • Support client relations with YPR and Sid Lee clients, contributing to calls and client communications 
  • Stay up-to-date with new media contacts, opportunities, industry trends and developments
  • Contribute to the development of creative campaign strategies that align with client goals
  • Develop presentation decks for new and existing clients
  • Conduct deep-dive research on behalf of clients, uncovering new areas of opportunity 
  • Work closely with team members across Toronto, Montreal and NYC, and collaborate with other agency teams to meet client goals


  • 3-4 years of PR experience in an agency setting
  • Strong organizational, time-management and project management skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent writing skills
  • Strong media contacts in the US and Canada (priority: US) 
  • Ability to work with evolving client priorities, being adaptable and flexible
  • Experience developing and executing earned media strategies, and experience with paid media strategies will be considered an asset
  • Collaborative spirit, results-driven with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work against deadlines
  • Desire to learn, grow, and gain new experiences
  • Ability to be in office (located at 395 Hudson St, New York, NY) 2 days a week is an asset
